Center for Teaching Excellence

Supporting pedagogy to enhance the knowledge and effectiveness of all who teach. Also provides distributed learning course design and development support.

Electronic submission system for program and course proposals is designed so all required information can be entered online.

Academic Technologies (DoIT)

Offers a variety of educational and research services to learn more about using Blackboard, find new research tools, instructional technologies or enhance pedagogical methodologies.

Carolina Core

General education curriculum providing the common core of knowledge, skill and academic experience required for all Carolina undergraduates.

Classroom Enhancement and Scheduling

Committee that guides decision-making with respect to classroom enhancements, maintenance, safety, security and capacity as well as any implemented class schedule changes.

Distributed Learning Course Design

CTE Instructional Designers and Division of Information Technology can help faculty select the best combination of tools, resources and teaching practices to develop distributed learning courses and course components.

Classroom Safety and Emergency Preparedness

As a part of the wider Carolina community, faculty help maintain a safe campus in partnership with campus law enforcement. In the event of an emergency, please dial 911 from any cell phone or campus phone.

Faculty and Staff Assistance

Ombuds
An ombuds serves as a confidential, neutral, informal and independent resource for concerns and conflicts.

Faculty Civility Advocate
The charge of the FCA is to adjudicate complaints of workplace bullying as dictated in the Workplace Bullying Policy (ACAF 1.80 [pdf]) in an independent and just manner. Contact the Faculty Civility Advocate ([email protected]) for more information.

Staff and Employee Assistance
Counseling, mediation, staff grievances and help with workplace issues or personal concerns are handled through the Employee Relations Office of the Division of Human Resources. The Office of Equal Opportunity Programs was created to ensure that applicants for employment, employees and prospective and enrolled students of the university are protected against discrimination.
