What is a Custom Trip?
Outdoor Recreation (ORec) offers Adventure Trips tailored specifically to student groups and departments on campus! ORec can work with you and your organization to design an outdoor experience that’s right for your goals. Equipment, transportation, and trained Trip Leaders to lead in instruction as well as team facilitation activities are all included in a Custom Trip.
What kind of trips are offered?
Typically, 10-12 participants can be accommodated on a Custom Trip. Any of ORec’s signature Land or Paddle Sport trip offerings and locations can be planned as a Custom Trip. Additionally, we provide three different “tiers” of facilitation, or team building, that can be implemented within the trip. See below to learn more about our trip offerings and facilitation!
Please note: Under certain circumstances the maximum group size can be increased.
Trip Offerings
Hiking trips to Congaree National Park, Table Rock State Park, Rainbow Falls, and more!
Stand-up paddleboarding on the Saluda River, and Sit-On-Top Kayaking on the Congaree River
Facilitation Tiers
The nature of outdoor recreation allows participants to develop new relationships, potentially overcome obstacles, and improve communication.
Expand on the soft and hard skills that are developed through outdoor recreation by participating in a discussion about how lessons from the trip can transfer to life and responsibilities.
Please note: that the trip is the main activity and facilitation activities are not intended to serve as an in-depth team-building program.
