Brett is thrilled to be back in Columbia working for the Top Scholars program, his collegiate home. As a McNair scholar alumnus, he graduated from USC in the spring of 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in sport & entertainment management.

Brett’s professional background is in the sports broadcasting industry. Most notably, he spent four years as the radio and television play-by-play voice of women’s sports at Western Kentucky University, working primarily with women’s basketball and volleyball. Today, he calls assorted Gamecocks games for the SEC Network and ESPN+ in addition to some other freelance broadcast work in the Carolinas. But he is even more passionate about helping the current generation of Top Scholars pursue and live their dreams as he did his.

Brett was heavily involved in the Top Scholars community during his undergraduate career, serving as Co-Executive Chair of Scholars United, a Peer Leader and a member of both the Welcome Team and Scholar Host Team. He enjoys working with the scholars currently in these roles and helping them grow as leaders.

Outside of work, you will find Brett continuing to explore the South’s iconic food scene, shag dancing Thursday nights at Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor and cheering on his hometown Washington, D.C.-based professional sport teams.
