Marcus cares about helping institutions of higher learning deliver on their promise of being a place of access and success. While working in fundraising for nearly a decade, he has experience in annual giving, capital campaigns, grateful patient fundraising, annual writing appeals, employee giving, alumni stewardship and strategic planning. Prior to joining the Honors College, Marcus was the assistant director of annual giving at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia.

Marcus is a graduate of Claflin University with a bachelor's degree in business management and a master's degree in business administration. In his spare time, he enjoys mountain biking, playing sports and spending time with family. For the last 10 years, Marcus has been a youth basketball coach and speaks at several schools in the Columbia area. He also speaks monthly at prisons within the South Carolina Department of Corrections at a program he helped create called "Real Men, Real Talk."
