Charlestina has spent the last 13 months working with the South Carolina Department of Corrections as an administrative coordinator in Volunteer Services. In that role, she assisted 20 head chaplains across the state's institutions, helping to vet and monitor volunteers and organizations that provide essential services and guidance to inmates. Previously she worked for five years with the University of South Carolina's Children's Law Center, serving as a program assistant for the Court Liaison team, an administrative assistant to both the Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children and the SC Citizen review panel coordinator for Child Welfare. Additionally, she was the primary building coordinator for the organization.

Born in Columbia, S.C., and raised in Winnsboro, Charlestina is a proud alumna of Fairfield Central High School and Capella University. She is married with two adult children and enjoys a variety of hobbies, including gardening, traveling, dancing, grilling, listening to southern soul music, enjoying good food and wine and sharing a good joke. Her family also includes three dogs—Roxie, Ace and Zeus—and four recently added rambunctious puppies.
