What do you mean by first-generation college student?
The University of South Carolina uses the TRIO definition of first-generation students (FGS). The definition means any individual whose parents did not complete a bachelors degree.
What if my siblings went to college?
You are still considered first-generation even if your siblings graduated or currently
attend any type of college or university.
What if my parents have an associates degree?
At USC, students are still considered first-generation college students if their parents
have an associates or two-year college degree.
