Paul Ziehl Research Group

Description: The Paul Ziehl Research Group studies aerospace composites and related structural systems. The group develops and implements real-time in-flight evaluation systems for thermoplastic and other control surfaces, contributes to understanding progressive damage in aerospace composites and high-pressure vessels through minimally intrusive sensing, and collaborates with industrial partners to develop autonomous and remotely deployed structural condition assessment and prognosis. His research lies at the intersection of data-driven approaches informed with machine learning and physics-based numerical simulations.
