Bio

As a PhD student in Political Science, Spencer studies the political economy of conflict with specific attention to non-state actors. He uses observational data and econometrics to investigate the processes by which rebels negotiate and obtain funding and how they use this income to bolster their capabilities against states. Before coming to the University of South Carolina, he received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and his M.A. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
