Background

Dr. Adams holds dual appointments in the College of Nursing and the Arnold School of Public Health.  She received her BS in Biology in 1994 from Furman University in Greenville, SC, her Master’s in 1996 Biomedical Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, School of  Biomedical Sciences, and her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of South Carolina in 2003.

Teaching

Most recently, Dr. Adams has taught Nursing 811 and 720 as well as Epidemiology 802. She is enthusiastic about teaching students quantitative research methods and how to write competitive NIH grants.

Research

Dr. Adams’ extensive research has focused on disparities in cancer across the continuum from prevention/screening to diagnosis to long-term survivorship.

Professional Service

Dr. Adams is a member of the Society for Epidemiologic Research, the American College of Sports Medicine, the Southern Nursing Research Society, the North American Association of Cancer Research, and the South Carolina Cancer Center-Junior Scientific.

Dr. Adams has practiced in the areas of diabetes care, bone marrow transplant, mammography, and oncology.
