Background

Samantha Y. White is a strategic leader with over eight years of experience in advising and program management within higher education. She has a proven track record of enhancing student success and engagement, fostering lasting positive impacts on her students and colleagues. White is skilled in relationship building and motivating others to achieve their goals.

Prior to joining the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management in September 2024, she served as director of student affairs at the University of South Carolina School of Law. White oversaw the department's operations and coached law students in areas such as academic success, project management and financial responsibility. She also led events for students, alumni and community partners.

White previously held positions at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where she managed educational initiatives and student affairs programs. Her efforts increased student satisfaction and retention, demonstrating her dedication to student development.

Before joining USC, White served as assistant dean for university advising at Hofstra University, coordinating academic advising for undergraduate students. She also held program coordination roles at various institutions, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Fashion Institute of Technology.

White is a native of Georgia. She holds a Master of Education in higher education and student affairs from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts in history from Georgia Southern University. She and her husband, Jonathan, are proud parents to Noah. White remains active in her community as a guest teacher, volunteer and youth sports coach.
