Background

Isaac D. Pressley Jr. is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in hospitality management, culinary arts and human resources who joined the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of South Carolina as an executive in residence for community engagement in August 2024. He earned a Master of Science in international hospitality management and a Bachelor of Science in hospitality management from the University of South Carolina, along with an Associate of Arts in culinary arts from Johnson and Wales University. Pressley Jr.'s educational foundation equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the hospitality industry, enabling him to excel in various roles throughout his career.

In addition to his role at USC, Pressley Jr. serves as a human resources specialist with the United States Army Reserves at Fort Jackson. He supervises and performs essential personnel and administrative functions. His role involves managing human resources and overseeing personnel management activities, ensuring that soldiers and their families receive the necessary support. Pressley Jr.'s commitment to his duties have earned him multiple accolades, including the Army Accommodation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.

Before joining the Army Reserves, Pressley Jr. worked as a culinary and hospitality instructor at the Lexington 2 Innovation Center in Columbia, South Carolina. In this role, he developed and administered a culinary arts curriculum that aligned with the school district's goals, providing students with the skills necessary to excel in the culinary and hospitality industries. His dedication to education was recognized when he was awarded the Teacher of the Year in 2019.

Pressley Jr. also gained significant experience in the hospitality sector, having worked at The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a special events attendant. His responsibilities included providing top-tier hospitality service, preparing supplies for events and ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests. Pressley Jr.'s commitment to excellence in service was further demonstrated by his previous role as a server at Augusta National Golf Club during the Masters Tournament.

Throughout his career, Pressley Jr. has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence, whether in the classroom, in the hospitality industry or in service to his country. His varied experiences and achievements highlight his dedication to both his profession and the people he serves.
