Education

Background

Walter Jackson is a production chef for the McCutchen House in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. In this role, Jackson's duties include teaching the management side of quantity food production, working with students on food preparation, kitchen safety and basic culinary knowledge. Walter is also responsible for assisting with events within the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management in and outside the McCutchen House. In addition, Jackson serves as assistant to the University of South Carolina's First Lady Patricia Moore-Pastides during her healthy Mediterranean cooking classes and with HRTM 370 - Restaurant Food Production Management. 

Jackson has more than 28 years of experience in the hotel and restaurant industry. He is a Certified ServSafe instructor/proctor and has been named a Foodservice Management Professional, the highest certification given by the National Restaurant Association. Jackson is currently pursuing his Certified Executive Chef certification through the American Culinary Federation.
