Biography
Chase Meyer is an Instructor in the Department of Political Science at the University of South Carolina. Professor Meyer’s research and teaching interests focuses primarily on American Politics, particularly in the areas of Congress, elections, and political parties. Much of his work examines how voters perceive the ideology and particular positions of different candidates for office and political parties as well as how their ideology and partisanship impact their roles once elected to Congress. Professor Meyer has published his work in journals such as Electoral Studies, Social Science Quarterly, and Congress and the Presidency.
Before coming to South Carolina Professor Meyer previously taught at the University of Florida, University of South Florida at St. Petersburg, and Radford University. Professor Meyer has also acted as a teaching assistant at the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the University of Michigan assisting in Statistics and Data Analysis II as well as Bayesian Statistics. He earned his PhD in Political Science at the University of Georgia in 2017, received his M.A in Political Science from American University in 2011, and a B.A. in Government at the University of Texas at Austin in 2009.
