Bio: Lelia Rice is a part-time M.A Student in Public History with a concentration in Museums. She attended undergraduate also at the University of South Carolina, where she worked as a work-study student at the USC McKissick Museum all four years. This sparked her love for Folklife, and Folkart in the South. She wrote her History Senior Seminar paper on the Language of Quilts, inspired by her work stitching muslin hangings onto Quilts for display at McKissick. After she graduated in May of 2020, she worked at a middle school before being hired full time at the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Heritage Trust Program as an Archaeology Education Specialist. Now she works in educating students across SC on the work the Heritage Trust Program does through programs and exhibits. It is where she will be focusing her MA research on a legacy collection of Edgefield Stoneware Vessels made by Joseph G Baynham, given to the Heritage Trust from a previous land owner.
