Bio:

Annie is a first-year Public History MA student. She received her undergraduate degree in history and political science from College of Charleston where she focused on how social movements can create change in our government. Her capstone thesis, “Citizenship Education in Charleston: Education and Activism within the Long Civil Rights Movement”, was inspired by Charleston’s Avery Center and the ties between historically black institutions and how they influenced prominent figures in the long civil rights movement. She hopes to continue her studies in the history of education, the long civil rights movement, and social movements through historic preservation and oral history lenses.
