Bio:
Jennifer is a PhD Candidate in history with a secondary field in Women and Gender Studies. Her dissertation focuses on the participation of African and African-descended people in the American Revolution, with a concentration on New York. Jennifer is a licensed K-12 educator who, before pursuing her doctoral degree, taught AP US History, AP Psychology, and Government to high school juniors and seniors. She is a member of the 2024 Gilder Lehrman Fellowship class. She is the recipient of a 2023 SPARC research grant and a 2022 Mount Vernon Fellowship from the George Washington Presidential Library. Jennifer has an upcoming publication in the South Carolina Historical Magazine titled “ ‘Half Hidden from the Eye’: Irene Dillard Elliott, First Dean of Women at the University of South Carolina.” In her free time, she enjoys exploring the trails and waterways of South Carolina with her family.
