Education: B.A. in English Literature (University of Tennessee, 2023)

Bio:  Angelica was born and raised in the DMV area, before moving down south in 2019 to pursue her bachelor’s degree in English Literature at the University of Tennessee. It was during her time at UT that she rediscovered her passion for libraries and archives, one that has its roots in frequenting her local library and utilizing their vast resources during her years as a homeschooled student. As an undergrad, Angelica worked in the Betsey B. Creekmore Special Collections and University Archives as a student library assistant and served as an undergraduate researcher for the Department of Africana Studies, accessioning the unprocessed archives that detail the first 20+ years of the Department’s existence. Influenced by the combined experiences of serving in these roles and attending the Rare Book School class, “The History of the Book in America: A Survey from Colonial to Modern”, she ultimately recognized the necessity of combining an understanding of history with that of library science if one seeks to diversify special collections and archival spaces from within and highlight historically marginalized narratives in research spaces. It is for this reason that Angelica is presently working toward earning a dual-master’s degree in Public History and Library Science. 

Angelica currently holds a Graduate Assistantship with the Department of History at the University of South Carolina and will also be finding ways to assist with ongoing projects at the University of South Carolina’s Center for Civil Rights History and Research.
