Bio:
Summer grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has a BA in religious studies from Grinnell College in Iowa, where she also studied creative writing. Her MA thesis explores the role of magic (including astrology, prophecy, mystical experience, and nonhuman entities like angels) in the 1857 Revolt in India. She is curious about both how magic becomes a political tool for rebels and how primary source accounts of British magic complicate colonial narratives that contrast British rationality with the superstition of colonial subjects. In her free time, Summer is passionate about dancing to bring joy and build community.
